Kevin will tell you that he is “ordinary and quite boring”.
“Ordinary” because, anyone can do the things he does. He works hard, he is focused, and he keeps going until the task is done.
“Quite boring” because, he does not waste time on frivolous activities which detract from the mission in hand. He very rarely goes out to socialize. He has no interest in any ball game sports. He is not religious. He has not watched or owned a T.V. in 40 years. (There were no T.V.s at Rawlins Plantation Inn). He prefers to watch and enjoy nature’s beauty. Quite boring most would say.
Kevin starts every day around 5.00 am. He stops at 5.00 pm and cooks dinner for himself and his friends. He eats only fresh local vegetables with local fresh fish which he marinades every few days and keeps chilled. He does not eat meat and steers away from processed food. He goes to bed by 9.00 pm every day. He lives with his friends next to the sea and likes the peace and quiet.
Kevin’s passion is sailing. Whenever possible, he likes to sail VERITAS an old sailing ketch which he shares with his dear friends Melanie & Alastair. VERITAS is kept moored in front of the house where they can attend to her. “It’s a wonderful tonic” he says and the brown eyes shine.
However, in many ways, Kevin is still in jail.
He cannot get his life back until his legal claim is settled. St Kitts is shamefully ignoring their responsibilities, just as they ignored Kevin’s Civil Rights, Constitutional Rights and his Human Rights when he was falsely imprisoned. Kevin has been forced to bring the matter to Court to collect the debt. He continues steadfastly, you can be sure that he will not be giving up on that mission. Some have accused him of being driven and tenacious. Well the cap fits, but Kevin is just ordinary and quite boring. And he won’t be changing now.
